John Gilbert appeared in “Romance Ranch” at the Alamo Theater. • Lula Lake returned to Aberdeen after she visited Mrs. E.A. Mullin. • Mrs. W.R. Lominick left for Liberty. • Mrs. G.S.Stoval was in St. Paul, Minn., where she attended the national convention of the American Legion Auxiliary.
90 Years Ago: 1934
J.P. Boler, a Warren County planter, died. • Patrolman W.E. Ross was ill. • There were 1,318 enrolled at the opening of the city schools.
80 Years Ago: 1944
Staff Sgt and Mrs. L.E. Bloch were in Vicksburg visiting relatives. • Carlie Brannon left to enter Baylor University.
70 Years Ago: 1954
John O. Raworth returned from a vacation in Colorado. • Mrs. Frank Arledge was ill. • Caroline Compton returned from an extensive motor trip through Virginia, New York City and New England. • Benson Martin Sr. was vacationing in Hendersonville, N.C.

Mr. and Mrs. David Baggett announced the birth of their son, David Jr. • Raymond Banks Jr. entered the St. Joseph Seminary at St. Benedict, La. • Hubert Hart died. • Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Adams announced the birth of their son, Robert.
50 Years Ago: 1974
Billy Ray, sports editor for the Vicksburg Evening Post since 1953, died of an apparent heart condition. • The home of Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Boult was heavily damaged by fire. • Mr. and Mrs. Harry Uzzle announced the birth of their daughter, Kimberly Michelle.
40 Years Ago: 1984
Area students Keith Magehee, Matthew Gordon and Glenn Pace were named National Merit Semifinalists in the 1985 National Merit Scholarship Competition. • John Martin Jones, of Port Gibson, died at Mercy Hospital. • Hunter Bailey celebrated birthday number two and Joni Nicole Holdiness celebrated birthday number three.

A twelve-year-old was tied up with an extension cord and his home on Dana Road was robbed while he was home sick.

Vicksburg resident and Port Gibson native Howell N. “Hal” Gage was named to the State Board of Education.

Gibson Memorial United Methodist Church celebrated its 100th anniversary. • The Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library underwent renovations. • Warren Central and Vicksburg High both won football games.
