Voting is open in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are Warren Central volleyball player Ka’ryn Henderson; and football players Auston Moore (Porter’s Chapel), Patrick Southerland (St. Aloysius), and DeCorey Knight Jr. (Vicksburg High).

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Ka’ryn Henderson, a junior with Warren Central’s volleyball team, had 11 kills and served three aces in a 3-2 (23-25, 10-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-12) victory over Grenada in the MHSAA Class 6A playoffs. It was WC’s first-ever playoff win.

Auston Moore, a junior with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s football team, rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries in a 72-52 loss to Columbus Christian on Oct. 11.

Patrick Southerland, a member of St. Aloysius’ junior high football team, rushed for more than 200 yards and three touchdowns in a 40-6 win against Clinton Christian on Oct. 8.

DeCorey Knight Jr., a senior with Vicksburg High’s football team, accounted for 267 total yards and scored one touchdown in a 31-21 loss to Neshoba Central on Oct. 11. Knight had 212 rushing yards, 10 receiving yards, 10 passing yards, and 35 return yards.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and then be featured in our Friday print edition.
