The Warren Central High School (WCHS) Big Blue traveled to the University of Memphis Saturday, where it was invited to compete in the 2024 Bandmasters Championship.
The Bandmasters Championship was conceived to provide the Mid-South region with a scholastic marching band contest event of the highest possible caliber and greatest expectations in the sport, WCHS band officials said.
Big Blue competed against schools from Arkansas, Alabama, Tennessee, Texas and Mississippi.
“The Vikings, once again, dominated the playing field by winning multiple awards and recognitions,” WCHS band officials said.
Big Blue was awarded Best in class AAA Visual Best in class AAA general effect; Best in class AAA color guard; 2nd place band in class AAA; and 6th place band overall for this year’s show, “Paint it, Black.”
