VICKSBURG VOICES: Share your Warren County education story
Published 4:38 am Monday, November 11, 2024
Dear Vicksburg Community,
We are excited to introduce Vicksburg Voices, a new initiative by Shape Up Mississippi in partnership with the City of Vicksburg. This project seeks to celebrate our community’s resilience, diversity, and rich cultural heritage by capturing the stories that make Vicksburg unique, with a particular focus on education in Warren County.
We invite you to share your memories of influential teachers, challenges you’ve faced, or your hopes for the future of education in our community. Your input will be integral to a broader project that includes in-depth features and community storytelling workshops, all designed to honor Vicksburg’s bicentennial in 2025.
As many of you know, our city was honored with the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation’s Culture of Health Prize for our commitment to improving the well-being of all residents. Now, through Vicksburg Voices, we continue that legacy by inviting you to share your unique experiences related to education— whether you’re a student, teacher, parent or community member.
Vicksburg will be marking its 200th anniversary, a significant milestone that allows us to reflect on our past, celebrate our present and envision our future. We encourage anyone who has a story to share about education in Vicksburg/Warren County to fill out our brief survey, open until the end of November. The survey can be accessed by clicking here or visiting https://bit.ly/voiceseducation.
Join us in honoring Vicksburg’s history, culture and future by sharing your story. Together, we will highlight the voices that make our community truly special.
Sincerely,
Linda Fondren
