The Southern Heritage Air Foundation (SHAF) will host its 13th Annual THANKSgiving Veterans Lunch Tuesday at noon.
SHAF Executive Director Patty Mekus said the event will seat 130 and had has sold out, while reserved seating was full early this year.
The event will open with a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance led by U.S. Army Veteran and member of SHAF’s board of directors L.W. “Bump” Callaway.
“For the past seven years, the Southern Heritage Air Foundation has been grateful to the Steve Harvey Morning Show and the Radio People of Vicksburg for the opportunity to be able to share gift cards for Thanksgiving turkeys to the veterans attending the lunch,” event organizers said. “This year will be no different, and representatives of the Radio People will be in attendance.”
One addition to this year’s lunch, organizers said, is that representatives of Riverwalk Casino Vicksburg will be in attendance and will be presenting a check to Scott Burns, a disabled U.S. Marine and founder of 7 Days for the Troops, a fundraiser supporting veterans. Also in attendance will be a representative from Purple Heart Homes, a fundraiser that helps renovate homes of veterans. SHAF and Warrior Bonfire Program founder and U.S. Army veteran Dan Fordice will also be in attendance.
SHAF is located at the Vicksburg-Tallulah Regional Airport, 175 Vtr Airport Rd, Tallulah.
