Fire Chief W.H. Fuller placed Vicksburg’s fire losses for 1934 at $32,191.56.

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

W.V. Cook, who had resided in Peru for 23 years, was in Vicksburg visiting his mother. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Mrs. Walter Tucker died. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Dale O’Brien was named to the office of city building inspector. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. James Nicks returned from a holiday visit to Columbia, Missouri. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Fire damaged the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grau. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

The City of Vicksburg was considering buying the Neil Building on the corner of Walnut and South streets, adjacent to City Hall.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

A fire in the basement of W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home was being investigated for possible signs of arson. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A $500,000 bond was set for a Claiborne County man charged with murder in the shooting death of a Vicksburg teenager in Port Gibson.
