Elsie Jean Fallot Lamb

Elsie Jean Fallot Lamb was born in Memphis, Tennessee Oct. 24, 1934, to Louis Fallot and Louise Fallot. She died  Jan. 31, 2025, at the age of 91.

Elsie attended Snowden Jr. High and Central High School (Class of 1951) in Memphis. She never made a “B” and was class valedictorian, though given to her male counterpart. She was awarded a full scholarship to Vassar College in New York but declined upon her father’s wishes. She then went to work for the U. S. Defense Department. Her high school annual states she wanted to “travel.” Later in life, she traveled with her loving husband, Franklin, and longtime friends Sharon and Tommy Cain of Wedowee, Alabama, and Baldwin Senior Travelers all over Europe. Since its founding, and the first event (1955) at Crump Stadium in Memphis, Tennessee, Mom has contributed annually to St. Jude in Memphis, Tennessee. Her penmanship was superb.

On Aug. 3, 1956, Elsie married Eugene Franklin Lamb of Memphis Tennessee. They were married for 67 years. They lived in Springhill, Louisiana; Georgetown, South Carolina; Vicksburg, Mississippi; Mobile, Alabama; Daphne, Alabama; and later years in Ridgeland, Mississippi.

Elsie was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Daphne, Alabama. She was known all her life for behind-the-scenes service and kindness. Even in the nursing home, comments were made on her kindness. Her father, Louis Fallot, chef of the famed Peabody Hotel, would bring her shrimp cocktails at night as a treat. She would do almost anything for shrimp, her favorite food.

Elsie is preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Viktor Hypolit Fallot and Anna Maria of Pirmasens, Germany; her maternal grandfather, Johann Scheller (first wife, Eugenia Fallot Scheller) born in Ansbach, Germany and died in Pirmasens, Germany, and second wife, Susannah (Wey) Scheller of Frankfurt, Germany; uncles in Germany were Georg Scheller, Adolph Scheller and Ferdinand Scheller; her parents, Louis and Louise Fallot of Memphis, Tennessee; her husband, Eugene Franklin Lamb of Memphis, Tennessee; sister, Mary Ann Fallot Watson of Memphis, Tennessee; daughter, Lisa Marie Lamb Shivers (Tommy) of Plano, Texas; and grandson, Ethan Scheller Lamb (stillborn of Jackson, Mississippi), son of Jeffrey Fallot Lamb (Lisa).

She is survived by her children, Jeffrey Fallot Lamb (Lisa) of Jackson Mississippi, and Russell Hill Lamb (Julie) of Shaker Heights, Ohio; grandchildren, Matthew Collins Shivers of Denver, Colorado Stewart Fallot Lamb (Sarah) of Indianola Mississippi, Louise McGinnis Lamb Adams (Murry) of Greenwood Mississippi, Camille Lena Hansen Lamb, and Dylan Hill Hansen Lamb of Shaker Heights Ohio; great-grandchildren, Katherine Louise Lamb, Witten Ethan Adams, Elsie Atkins Adams, Jack Scheller Lamb and Aubrey Thomas Adams; nieces, Suzan Davis of Coldwater, Mississippi and Ann Watson of Daphne, Alabama; nephew, Christopher O. Watson of Arkansas; son-in-law, Thomas Michael Shivers of Plano, Texas; distant cousin, Barbara Fallot of Sydney, British Collumbia, Canada; distant relatives in Germany, Georg Scheller of Frankfurt, Germany and wife Maria (deceased), sons of Maria, Hagen Scheller (deceased) and Henning Scheller (deceased), Henning Scheller’s wife Ursula Hildegard Hartmann and her daughters, Britta (Wolfgang Taudt) and children, Niklas Marian Scheller Taudt, Hannah Aurelie Taudt, Rahel Amelie Taudt, Nathanael Jasper Taudt, Malin Anonk Taudt, and Hannah’s child, Toni, Alice Scheller Portwich (Christian Portwich) of Regensburg, Germany and their children, Emilia Sophie, Valentin and Raphael; Julia Scheller Hess (Markus) Hess of Bon Homburg, Germany, and their children, Louisa Alba 6/20/2000, Theresa Aimee 8/6/2004, Mathilda Anais 2/12/2007; and special friends, the Boos Family of Daphne Alabama, Tommy and Sharon Cain of Wedowee Alabama, Charlene Bagwell of Silverhill, Alabama and Marianne Gingras of Foley, Alabama; as well as the members of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Burial will be held at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort, Alabama Friday, Feb. 7, 2025, at 11 a.m.

A celebration of life service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8271 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne, Alabama Saturday, Feb. 8, 2025. Visitation is at 10 a.m. and the service will begin 11 a.m.
