Thrilling doubles wins send Warren Central tennis to victory in season opener

A pair of thrilling boys doubles victories helped Warren Central’s tennis team get its season off to an exciting start.
The No. 1 doubles team of Brady Taylor and Sam Harris, and the No. 2 team of Gray Lampkin and Seth Lugo both won their matches in a third set tiebreaker to lift the Vikings to a 4-3 victory over St. Andrew’s in their regular-season opener Thursday at Halls Ferry Park.
Taylor and Harris beat Jonny Hua and Armav Patel 6-1, 6-6 (7-5), 10-4. Lampkin and Lugo outlasted Patrick Lin and Benjamin Ersing 6-1, 3-6, 12-10.
Warren Central also won the No. 1 girls doubles point, as Ellie Tennison and Avery Hern beat Vanita Annon and Chloe Marion 7-5, 6-3.
In mixed doubles, the Vikings had a much easier time as Charles Harris and Lilli Feibelman beat Mila Graham and Pranav Reddy 6-1, 6-1.
St. Andrew’s won both singles points and the No. 2 girls doubles points in straight sets, while losing a total of two games in those matches.
Warren Central will be back in action Friday afternoon, on the road at Florence at 4 p.m. It will host Brookhaven on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m., at Halls Ferry Park.
