Mississippi Delta Community College basketball player Layla Carter, a former Vicksburg High star, had 16 points, 13 rebounds, six assists and eight steals in a 63-55 loss to Copiah-Lincoln on Monday.

Carter is averaging 12.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.6 steals per game this season for Mississippi Delta, which has a 14-3 overall record. She is shooting a team-best 55 percent from the field and is just ahead of former VHS teammate Janiah Caples for the lead in rebounds.

The Lady Trojans will play again on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., at home in Moorhead against East Mississippi.
