Baseball Roundup: St. Al, Vicksburg both take early-season losses

For four innings, St. Aloysius and East Rankin Academy went back and forth. For the last three, East Rankin only went forth.

Will McGee doubled in the go-ahead run and scored on an error in the fifth inning, and East Rankin scored three more times in the sixth as it beat St. Al 6-5 Thursday’s baseball game at Key City Park.

East Rankin (4-0) scored five unanswered runs in all, after St. Al (1-2) had rallied from deficits of 2-0 and 5-2 in the first four innings.

Will Roberson and Robert Lee both singled, scored a run and had one RBI for the Flashes. Laken Bradley reached base three times and scored a run.

McGee finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored for East Rankin. Aiden Carlisle was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBIs and one run scored.

North Pike 12, Vicksburg 0
Grayson Reeves reached base four times and scored four runs, and North Pike scored in every inning as it beat Vicksburg High in a run-rule shortened game Thursday.

Vicksburg (1-1) committed four errors and did not have a hit. Mincer Minor drew a walk in the first inning and was the team’s only baserunner. The Gators’ last 11 batters were retired in order.

Gators’ pitcher Kaleb Doss had five strikeouts in two innings of relief.
