Maurice Emmich was named assistant cashier at the Deposit Guaranty and Trust Company. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

The Institute of Christian Services for the Diocese of Mississippi was held at All Saints College. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

William L. Nicholson died.  • Mr. and Mrs. W.F. McGehee and sons moved into their new home in Broadmoor Subdivision. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Woodruff announce the birth of a son, John Lawrence. • Paul W. Gale died. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

C.J. Duckworth of Mississippi Teachers Association urged a teacher to stage a walkout. • Edward McHale was named city editor of the Vicksburg Evening Post. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Services were held for James M. Rice. • Warren Central’s Sam Grant signed to play football with Alcorn State University.  

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Amii Johnson was queen of the Warren Central Junior High School Valentine’s Dance. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

The Mississippi Symphony Orchestra performed at a celebration of the city’s 180th anniversary. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

A Tallulah man was believed to have been driving the vehicle a murder suspect retrieved a gun from before committing the crime.
