Alberta Starks Butler

Alberta Starks Butler, a Vicksburg resident, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Feb. 8, following a lengthy illness. She was 91. She was a member of St. Mark M. B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli Starks and Martha Bell Bentley; her husband, Hubert Butler; her son, Charles Butler; her daughter, Darlene Carter; Gleneva Butler; her brother, Henry Lee Starks; and her sister, Ida Starks Stimage.
She is survived by her sons, Hubert Butler Jr. and James Butler, both of Vicksburg; her daughters, Louise M. Butler of New York City, Christine Butler of Vicksburg, Irene Butler McCoy of North Carolina, Ardenia Butler of Vicksburg; her brother, Eli Starks Jr. of Long Beach, California; James Starks of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; and her sisters, Lula Carter and Martha Bomer, both of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and others.
Funeral services are to be held Saturday, Feb. 22, at 10 a.m. in the Kings Empowerment Center with Pastor Dexter Jones officiating; interment shall follow in the Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Friday, Feb. 27, in the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m.
