Baseball Roundup: Vicksburg, St. Al, Tallulah Academy earn victories

- Vicksburg High baseball player Allan Allen was 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, and also struck out four batters in 3 2/3 innings as the Gators beat Humphreys County 14-10 on Monday.
Vicksburg High started fast and closed strong to break out of its brief baseball slump.
The Gators scored four runs in the first inning and six in the third, then tacked on a few insurance runs late to hold off Humphreys County 14-10 on Monday.
Vicksburg snapped a two-game losing streak.
Allan Allen was 3-for-4 with one RBI and two runs scored, and also pitched 3 2/3 effective innings. Allen allowed four runs, all unearned, on two hits and two walks. He struck out four batters.
Allen led off the bottom of the first inning and scored the Gators’ first run on a passed ball.
Vicksburg led 10-1 after its third-inning rally, but committed seven errors to let Humphreys County get back in the game. The Cowboys got as close as 10-7 before Vicksburg scored four runs in the fifth and sixth innings to put it away. Allen hit an RBI single in the sixth inning.
The Gators drew 13 walks as a team.
Mincer Minor reached base three times and scored three runs for Vicksburg (2-2). Nick Carson singled and walked twice, drove in one run and scored another. Kaleb Doss walked three times and scored two runs.
Mickell Jones was 1-for-2 with two walks and a run scored, and pitched the last 2 2/3 innings. He had five strikeouts.
Vicksburg will play at Velma Jackson Tuesday at 6 p.m., and will host Mendenhall Friday at 7 p.m.
St. Aloysius 5, Prairie View 3
Carson Smith doubled in two runs and scored during a four-run third inning that propelled St. Aloysius (3-2) past Prairie View Academy on Monday.
Will Roberson and Keller Bradley both hit RBI singles during the rally. Their hits were sandwiched around Smith’s two-run double as the Flashes took a 4-0 lead. They scored another unearned run in the sixth inning.
Smith finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs and one run scored. Bradley also had two hits and walked once, scored one run and drove in another. His brother Laken Bradley also had two hits and scored a run.
Evan Mallard pitched 4 1/3 innings to earn the win. He allowed four hits and three walks, but only two unearned runs. He had two strikeouts.
St. Al won its second game in a row. It will host Tri-County Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
Tallulah Academy 13, Franklin Academy 1
Denton Ray and Tripp Gayle both went 3-for-4 with an RBI, and Kennedy Collins doubled and drove in two runs as Tallulah Academy run-ruled Franklin Academy on Monday.
Ray doubled twice and scored three runs as the Trojans scored five runs in the third inning and seven more in the fourth to blow it open.
Gayle also doubled and scored twice. Charlie Vining also was 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored, and Luke Moberley had one RBI and scored two runs.
J.T. McDaniel was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs at the plate and pitched a five-inning complete game. He only allowed one hit and two walks, and racked up 13 strikeouts.
Tallulah Academy will play at Claiborne Academy Saturday at 1 p.m.
