Evans, a shortstop and pitcher, was 5-for-7 with six RBIs and five runs scored as Port Gibson won all three of its baseball games last week. He also pitched six innings and had seven strikeouts in a 4-3 victory over Porter’s Chapel Academy on Feb. 10. The Blue Waves swept a doubleheader from PCA and also beat Hazlehurst 18-2 on Feb. 14.

Congratulations to Michael and the other nominees, and thank you to our readers for voting.

The nominees for the Athlete of the Week award are announced each Sunday, and voting is open until midnight Tuesday. Links to the poll will be posted on our Facebook, Instagram and Twitter/X pages, as well as vicksburgpost.com.
