Dewey Lee Shaifer Sr.

Mr. Dewey Lee Shaifer Sr. of Vicksburg, Mississippi, passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at the age of 73. He was born on July 12, 1951, to the late William Shaifer Sr. and Evelyn King Shaifer of Port Gibson, Mississippi.

Dewey was preceded in death by his parents; two children, Stacey Graham and Tarinell Thompson; and his siblings, Billie June Shaifer Hooker and Herbert King Shaifer.

He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Rose Lewis Shaifer; as well as his children, Venzula Tate (Tony), Penny Dee Shaifer (Glenn), Kimberly Shaifer, Dewey Shaifer Jr., and Dewun Shaifer. Dewey is also survived by his cherished siblings, Carl Shaifer, Henrietta Jackson (John), Sadie Ruth Clark, Johnny Shaifer (Patricia), James Herbert Shaifer (Audrey), Michael Shaifer (Bobbie), and Kelvin Shaifer (Carmen); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services celebrating his life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, 2025, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, from 1 until 6 p.m., with family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
