NATCHEZ — Natchez National Historical Park Superintendent Kathleen Bond said she cannot answer questions from the media about how President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency mandates have affected the park operations in Natchez.

“I have been told to refer all inquiries to NPSnewsmedia.gov,” she said. “We are still at work. We are still doing our jobs.”

Bond said she is uncertain if any of Natchez Park’s employees have accepted Musk’s “Fork in the Road” letter. Bond, a career National Parks employee, also received one of those letters.

“All you had to do was accept, and your career would be over,” she said.

Bond said she did not accept the offer. Bond did say the parks in Natchez are under a hiring freeze. “We are not fully staffed,” she said. “I do want to say how proud I am of the dedicated employees of the Natchez National Historical Park and the job they do for the American people,” Bond said.
