Sources say the Vicksburg National Military Park has lost seven employees as a result of the Trump Administration’s layoffs, implemented on Feb. 14.
The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) layoffs targeted probationary workers, which include employees who have been in their current positions for less than one year.
According to the National Park Service’s FYE25 Budget Justifications, the Vicksburg National Military Park had 22 full-time employees in 2023, which is the latest data available. Based on 2023 data, the seven positions lost as part of the effort to reduce the federal workforce represent a 32% decrease in the full-time workforce at the Vicksburg National Military Park.
