The fee booth and visitor center at the Vicksburg National Military Park are to remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays following staff layoffs.

The visitor center was originally closed on Monday and Tuesday, the park’s two slowest days, during the 2024-25 winter season due to staffing shortages, with the intention to open the center back up during the heavy spring and summer tourism season. After the layoff of seven staff members on Feb. 14, the visitor center and fee booth will remain closed on Mondays and Tuesdays until further notice.
