A couple of close matches did not go Warren Central’s way Monday, and neither did the final result.

Germantown squeezed out narrow victories in No. 1 boys and girls doubles, and those turned out to be the pivotal points as it defeated Warren Central 4-3 in a tennis match in Madison.

All three of Warren Central’s points came in doubles matches.

Gray Lampkin and Brady Taylor won 6-3, 6-4 in No. 2 boys doubles; Ellie Tennison and Marlee Solomon won 7-6, 6-0 in No. 2 girls doubles; and Charles Harris and Amelia King took the mixed doubles point 6-2, 7-5.

Germantown won both singles points without dropping a set, and then ground out tough wins in No. 1 boys doubles and No. 1 girls doubles to take the match.

In the boys doubles match, Germantown’s Kent Selman and Jacob Dew rallied to beat WC’s Luke Bond and Sam Harris in three sets, 3-6, 7-6, 1-0.

In girls’ doubles, Julianna Jordan and Bella Bridges beat WC’s Sydney Sullivan and Avery Hern 6-3, 7-6.

Warren Central will be back at home at Halls Ferry Park on Thursday, at 3 p.m., to take on the Jackson Victors.
