100 YEARS AGO: 1925

James Kirkland and Madge Bellamy appeared in “Secrets of the Night” at the Alamo Theater • Jennie Fulkerson, who had been ill, was improved.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Smedes Vosburg wrote an interesting poem about the Porterfield home. • The Jones dancing school pupils presented “Fiesta” at the Strand Theatre. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Lt. J.M. Fried Jr. was wounded in action in Europe. • Jim Anderson was named Mr. Carr Central High School and Dot Moore was named Miss Carr Central High School. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Robbie Lou Ellsworth of Panama City Florida was in Vicksburg visiting her parents.  

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mrs. Mayne Alexander died. • Services were held for Mrs. Minnie Byrd. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Navy Lt. Cmd. John A.K. Birchett of Vicksburg helped supervise a missile recovery exercise in the West Pacific. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Mrs. Ruth Pinkston Israel died. • Mr. and Mrs. Robert Myers announced the birth of a daughter, Kelly Elizabeth. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Tyler Zeigler was named new administrator at the Vicksburg Clinic. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

The balcony at the Cinnamon Tree on Washington Street suffered minor damage in a fire. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Schools and government workers were returning to normal daily activities after a bout with wintry weather.
