Richard B. Howard died. • Mrs. Cecil Henniger and brother, of Chicago, were Visiting Mrs. Will Hundermark. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mr. and Mrs. Noel Friefeld left for Gulfport to visit their son, who was stationed at the Gulfport Naval Academy. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Mrs. Charles Jackson and son were in Warren County visiting relatives.  

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

George Abraham Jr. was listed on the dean’s list at Ole Miss. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs.  B.L. Lamensdorf returned from a vacation in San Francisco. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Mrs. Essie Pickett of Utica died. • Debbie Rouse of Vicksburg was awarded a commendation for her computer programming skills by the U.S. corps of Engineers. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

St. Francis Xavier Elementary students, teachers and supporters gathered for a mortgage-burning ceremony after school officials paid the last of the new building debt. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Former Vicksburg Mayor Joe Loviza announced he would again be a candidate for the city’s highest elected office, despite having lost his last two attempts to regain the position.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Jack Norris White Sr. died.
