Dear Editor,

It’s hard to believe that it’s been almost three years since I opened Jackson Street Gallery in The Mulberry Hotel. It has truly been an adventure! The opportunity to locate this gallery in Vicksburg has been such a pleasure. Not only does it add a beautiful presence to The City of Vicksburg and The Mulberry, it gave me an opportunity to meet many residents, business leaders, business owners, and new friends.

I am so proud that the gallery played an important role for the City of Vicksburg. Vicksburg is one amazing city! All of you should be so proud of the revitalization, renovations, and charming atmosphere that you have created. It takes visionary individuals to make things happen and when everyone works together with desired goals in mind, it just works. That is what you have done.

I think I personally hit the jackpot when Lenore Barkley offered to introduce me to Vicksburg. She was a warrior! Just kept pushing me to meet as many Vicksburgers (love that word) as I could. I would not have been able to do it without her. She is a true gem to Vicksburg and her promotional skills are amazing. Our friendship has been one of the best things ever! We jokingly call ourselves Lucy and Ethel! (I’m Lucy in case you wondered!) Best laughing buddy I’ve ever had! We’ve had tons of fun together promoting The Mulberry and Jackson Street Gallery. Thank you, Lenore! Sandy and I love you to pieces!

In the last few months I have had two of my employees relocate. It has made it difficult to travel to Vicksburg every week. After much soul searching I have decided it is best to close the gallery. I welcome you to visit my gallery in Ridgeland. It’s been a great experience and, again, I thank each of you for your continued support.
