Junior Auxiliary of Vicksburg announces ‘Big Wheels Keep on Turning’ community event

Published 12:52 pm Wednesday, March 5, 2025

At the close of the Junior Auxiliary’s 2023-2024 year, our board and members began brainstorming ways to create a free, family-friendly event that would bring the entire Warren County community together. While many of our larger events focus on fundraising to support our service initiatives, we wanted this event to be purely about fun, engagement, and connection.

From that idea, Big Wheels Keep on Turning was born. The name pays tribute to Vicksburg’s rich history, from the river and steamboats that define our city to the iconic song “Proud Mary.” Over the past several months, our team has worked tirelessly to bring this vision to life, and we are thrilled to finally share the details with you.

This exciting, hands-on event will feature a variety of emergency response vehicles, tractors, trucks, and heavy equipment for children and families to explore up close. Kids will have the opportunity to climb inside, meet the people who operate them, and learn about the important roles these vehicles play in our community.

While admission is completely free, we will have a bake sale and event T-shirts available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting the Warren County Children’s Shelter and Jacob’s Ladder—two organizations we work closely with and are proud to support. We are planning several other surprises that will be announced soon.

We are also excited to offer a quiet/sensory-friendly hour from 11 a.m. to noon, with noise-canceling headphones available for use. From noon to 3 p.m., we welcome everyone to join in on the fun!

Mark your calendars for Saturday, March 29, at Halls Ferry Park—we can’t wait to see you there! This event wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our amazing sponsors and the continued support of our community. Thank you for helping us make Big Wheels Keep on Turning a reality!
