MEMA begins assessment of Warren County storm damage from Tuesday’s severe weather

PEARL, Miss. (MEMA) – The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency is working with counties to assess damage from Tuesday’s severe weather, which resulted in reports of homes damaged, trees down and power outages. Three deaths (one in Clarke County and two in Madison County) and six injuries (two in Madison County and four in Wayne County) have been reported to MEMA. As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, there were 6,500 reported power outages across the state, down from over 38,000 Tuesday.
The following is preliminary and will change through the assessment process. The following counties have reported they have received storm damage:
- Madison
- Perry
- Warren
- Wayne
MEMA encourages residents who’ve sustained damage from this severe weather event to do the following:
- File an insurance claim.
- Take photos of the damage to the home.
- Report damage to county/MEMA via the self-report tool.
