Lady Vikes snap skid with walk-off win against Loyd Star

- Warren Central softball player Mary Clell Allred hit a game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Lady Vikes an 8-7 win over Loyd Star on Thursday.
Warren Central snapped its softball losing streak in a most satisfying way.
The Lady Vikes let a four-run lead slip away, then rallied to score three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to get an 8-7 win over Loyd Star.
Mary Clell Allred’s walk-off RBI single gave the Lady Vikes (2-7) the win and snapped their seven-game losing streak. It was the last of five hits in the inning. Addi Mullen and Anzley Keen also had RBI singles.
Warren Central had scored three runs in the third inning and one in the fifth to take a 4-0 lead, but lost it all in the top of the sixth. Loyd Star’s Kenzie Kay Lofton and Maddie Kate Britt both hit RBI triples, and Ainsley Gennaro and Kaylin Hester hit RBI doubles as the Lady Hornets scored seven runs.
Keen singled and scored on KK Williamson’s single in the bottom of the sixth to get a run back for the Lady Vikes, and then they walked it off with the seventh-inning rally.
Williamson scored two runs, and Kennadi Williams had three RBIs for the Lady Vikes. KeKe McKay was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, and Keen was 2-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
Madison Pant went 3-for-4 at the plate, and also had 11 strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings pitched.
Warren Central will travel to the Coast on Saturday to play a varsity doubleheader at Hancock beginning at noon.
