Warren Central tennis clobbers Columbus

At the halfway point of the season. Warren Central’s tennis team is halfway to a region championship.

The Vikings did not lose a set Thursday, and won three matches without dropping a game, as they routed Columbus 7-0 at Halls Ferry Park.

The only competitive match was in boys’ singles, where Ivan Ozherelev won 6-2, 7-5. Avery Hern won 6-0, 6-0 in girls’ singles, as did the boys’ doubles teams of Luke Bond and Sam Harris, and Charles Harris and Brady Taylor.

The girls’ doubles teams of Sydney Sullivan and Lilli Feibelman and Amelia King and Laura Bailey both won 6-0, 6-1.

Warren Central won the mixed doubles point by default.

The Vikings improved their record to 3-0 in MHSAA Region 2-6A, and 10-5 overall as they head into spring break. They’ll be back in action on March 15 for the multi-team Halls Ferry Park Classic, and then close out the region schedule with home matches against Neshoba Central on March 17 and Vicksburg High on March 20.
