D.S. Hogg joined the gas company in Vicksburg. • Dr. R.P. Crump was in Warren County from Nitta Yuma.

R.W. Dunn, for 10 years the caretaker at Long Lake, died.
80 YEARS AGO: 1945
Mrs. H.C. Fielder was named director of the Girl Scout Day Camp to be held in June.
70 YEARS AGO: 1955
Burkett Martin was the speaker for the Y’s Men’s Club supper meeting.
60 YEARS AGO: 1965
Mrs. Wylma Spann died. • Mr. and Mrs. Fredie Jones announced the birth of a son, Brian, on March 5.
50 YEARS AGO: 1975
Winners of the Bank of Vicksburg’s cash drawing, Mrs. Delbert Hosemann and Mrs. Louise Wood, were presented with checks by James R. Cole, bank president, for $166.66, one day’s interest on $1 million.
40 YEARS AGO: 1985
Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Smith Jr. of Eagle Lake announced the birth of a son, Jarred Doc, on Feb. 12.

Vicksburg won a $4,000 grant to study local cultural resources.
20 YEARS AGO: 2005
Primary and alternative sites were chosen for the new school to house sixth- through twelfth-grade students in Madison Parish, Louisiana.

The IRS was proposing stricter reporting rules for casino winnings, including those in Vicksburg.
