St. Al puts 13 players on soccer, basketball all-district teams

St. Aloysius’ soccer and basketball teams piled up a stack of all-district honors this winter, with 13 athletes garnering recognition.

Senior soccer players Brody Barnett, Dalton Windham and Corbin Burroughs were selected to the MAIS All-Division II Central team, and John Ellis Montgomery to the MAIS All-Star team.

Burroughs, Windham and Montgomery were all excellent offensive producers for the Flashes, who finished 11-4-1 and reached the MAIS Division II playoffs. They either scored or assisted 53 of the team’s 59 goals.

Burroughs had a team-high nine goals and 10 assists, Windham totaled eight goals and 15 assists, and Montgomery finished with eight goals and three assists.

Barnett played defense and helped the Flashes post four shutouts.

In basketball, five players from the boys’ team and four from the girls’ squad were named to the All-District 4-5A team.

For the boys, Anthony McCloud, Carson Gleese and Carson Henderson were on the first team, and Sadler Lambiotte and Laken Bradley were on the second team.

McCloud, a Tougaloo College signee, and Gleese powered the Flashes to a 14-10 record and a second-place finish in District 4-5A. It was their second consecutive winning season after they won three games in 2022-23.

McCloud averaged 18.4 points and 6.7 rebounds per game and surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career. Gleese averaged 18.9 points and 5.5 rebounds.

Henderson averaged 7.0 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Lambiotte was a solid point guard, averaging 3.7 assists, and Bradley contributed in every statistical category with 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.9 steals per game.

For the Lady Flashes, Megan Theriot was picked to the All-District 4-5A first team, while Farrell Roberson, Annslee Averett and Taryn Lusby made the second team.

Theriot led St. Al with 7.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.8 steals per game. Lusby was right behind her, with 7.4 points and 2.7 steals per game.

Averett averaged 6.2 points and 2.0 steals, while Roberson was an excellent rebounder with 8.6 per game to go along with 4.3 points and 2.2 steals.
