A shots-fired call Friday night in downtown has not yet led to arrests, but also yielded no injuries, Chief of Police Penny Jones said.

Jones said the call came after a fight that broke out inside LD’s Kitchen spilled over into the parking lot, at which point someone retrieved a firearm from a vehicle.

“LD’s has strong security inside and someone involved ran out to the parking lot and got a gun from the car,” Jones said. “They fired five rounds into the air.”

Jones said cameras belonging to the City of Vicksburg picked up the commotion, but were unable to capture the identity of the shooter due to the crowd blocking the line of sight. She added that footage from private cameras from LD’s is still being analyzed and the incident remains under active investigation.

“No one was injured,” she said. “It doesn’t appear the person was actually shooting at anybody.”
