Baseball Roundup: Warren Central wins two on the Coast; VHS and PCA take Friday losses

- Warren Central baseball player Maddox Lynch was 4-for-7 with five RBIs in wins over Mobile Christian and Pascagoula on Friday.
Maddox Lynch helped get Warren Central started, and then came to the rescue when it was limping to the finish line.
The senior hit an RBI double during a three-run first inning, then came on in relief to get the final out as the Vikings beat Mobile Christian 4-1 on Friday at the Battle at the Beach baseball tournament in Pascagoula.
Warren Central led 4-1 entering the bottom of the seventh inning, but Mobile Christian loaded the bases with two outs against closer Ryan Steed, on a walk, hit batter, and a bunt single.
Lynch relieved Steed at that point, and struck out Noah Blackburn swinging on a full count to end the game.
Lynch, who missed the entire season up until this week because of an injury, was 2-for-4 at the plate, with two RBIs and one run scored.
Blake Caruthers also had two hits, and Steed singled and scored a run.
Caden Cole started on the mound for the Vikings and allowed one unearned run in five strong innings. He had two strikeouts.
Warren Central 4, Pascagoula 2
Maddox Lynch had another big game at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBIs, as Warren Central (5-8) beat Pascagoula at the Battle at the Beach.
Lynch hit an RBI single in the third inning, and singled in two more runs in the sixth.
Trace Hood also had two hits for the Vikings. Blake Caruthers had an RBI, and Hayes Loper and Caden Cole both singled and scored runs.
Sophomore Beau Bradley had a solid start on the mound. He allowed two runs, neither earned, and had five strikeouts in 5 1/3 innings. He allowed three hits and two walks.
Justin Greer pitched 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and had three strikeouts to earn a save.
Pearl 18, Vicksburg 4
John Mark Grissom went 3-for-3 and scored four runs, Dylan Jones was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored, and Pearl (3-6) scored multiple runs in every inning as it run-ruled Vicksburg High (4-9) on Friday.
Jack Durr also had two hits and three RBIs for Pearl, which had five doubles among its 14 hits.
Vicksburg scored all four of its runs in the third inning. Mincer Minor singled and scored on a passed ball, and Kolten Thomas hit a bases-clearing triple.
Thomas, Minor and Allan Allen had hits for the Gators.
Vicksburg will play its Region 2-6A opener Tuesday at 7 p.m., at Ridgeland.
Tensas Academy 15, Porter’s Chapel 3
Johnny Robin hit two home runs, drove in five runs and scored three more as Tensas Academy (7-1) ripped past Porter’s Chapel Academy (2-11) on Friday
Tensas trailed 3-2 heading to the bottom of the fourth inning, then scored six times and took the lead for good. It added two runs in the fifth inning and five more in the sixth to win via run rule.
Robin’s three-run home run ended the game, and he also hit a two-run shot in the fifth inning.
Colton Lardy walked four times and scored three runs for Tensas, and also had an excellent day on the mound. He pitched a six-inning complete game, did not allow an earned run, and had 14 strikeouts.
Conley Johnston hit a two-run double in the fourth inning for PCA. Evan Gordon and Cameron Potter also had hits.
PCA’s next two games are on the road, Monday at Adams County Christian School in Natchez, and Tuesday at River Oaks in Monroe, La. Both varsity games begin at 6 p.m.
