A few days off appears to have done Warren Central’s softball team a lot of good.
The Lady Vikes got back to work at the end of spring break and won two games at the Brookhaven tournament on Friday, 2-0 over Loyd Star and 13-0 against Bogue Chitto.
The two victories ran the Lady Vikes’ winning streak to three, after they only won once in the first eight games of the season.
Madison Pant pitched four scoreless innings against Loyd Star and had five strikeouts. Emily Muirhead pitched the fifth inning as the game was shortened by tournament rules.
Pant also drove in a run with a ground out in the first inning, and Kennadi Williams knocked in the Lady Vikes’ other run with a single in the third inning.
Mari Kynlea Ferguson was the team’s big hitter, going 3-for-3 while scoring both runs.
Warren Central only had four hits against Loyd Star, but offense was much easier to come by against Bogue Chitto. WC rapped out eight hits to go along with four walks, and scored in all four innings to roll to the 13-0 victory.
KeKe McKay was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, and Addi Mullen was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Ferguson hit a triple.
Whitley Parks also had a big day by going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and three runs scored.
K.K. Williamson pitched a four-inning complete game. She allowed two hits and two walks, no runs, and struck out six. She also helped herself at the plate by singling and scoring a run.
Warren Central (4-7) will host Sterlington, Louisiana, on Tuesday. The junior varsity game begins at 5 p.m. and the varsity at 6:15.
