Voting is under way for The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are baseball players Carson Hays (Porter’s Chapel), Carson Smith (St. Aloysius) and Mincer Minor (Vicksburg); and softball player KeKe McKay (Warren Central).

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Carson Hays, a sophomore with Porter’s Chapel Academy’s baseball team, had a game-winning RBI double in a 5-4 win over Benton Academy on March 10. In three games last week, Hays was 3-for-7 with two RBIs and one run scored.

KeKe McKay, a sophomore shortstop with Warren Central’s softball team, batted .400 with three RBIs and four runs scored during a three-game winning streak. She was 2-for-3 with three RBIs and scored twice in a 13-0 win over Bogue Chitto on March 14.

Carson Smith, a senior shortstop with St. Aloysius’ baseball tea, went 7-for-11 with three extra base hits, four RBIs and five runs scored as the Flashes won all three games at the Bulldog Bash tournament on March 12.

Mincer Minor, a senior outfielder with Vicksburg High’s baseball team, went 4-for-7 with four RBIs and three runs scored as the Gators split two games against Greenville and Pearl last week. He had three hits and four RBIs in an 18-8 win over Greenville on March 8.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and featured in our Friday print edition.
