McKay received 1,409 of the 2,823 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to edge Vicksburg High baseball player Mincer Minor for this week’s award.
Minor finished second, with 1,106 votes. St. Aloysius baseball player Carson Smith was third, with 307 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy baseball player Carson Hays was fourth with 67.

For the season, McKay is batting .361 with four RBIs and nine runs scored in 12 games.
