Voting is under way for The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.

This week’s nominees are Shandrea Lockridge (Vicksburg softball); Carrie Wood (St. Aloysius tennis); and baseball players Tripp Gayle (Tallulah Academy) and Hayes Loper (Warren Central).

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline.

Shandrea Lockridge, an infielder with Vicksburg High’s softball team, went 7-for-11 with seven RBIs in five games last week, including wins over Yazoo City and Brookhaven.

Tripp Gayle, a junior with Tallulah Academy’s baseball team, had eight strikeouts and allowed one run in four innings pitched in a 22-1 win over Tensas Academy on March 21. He also was 2-for-5 with three RBIs in two games.

Carrie Wood, a member of St. Aloysius’ tennis team, went 3-1 in three singles matches and one doubles match last week. Her victories included a 6-2, 7-5 singles win over Cathedral that helped clinch the MAIS District 4-5A title for the Flashes.

Hayes Loper, a senior center fielder, was 5-for-8 with two triples, one double, two RBIs and five runs scored as Warren Central’s baseball team won all three of its games last week.

Voting is open until midnight Tuesday, and you can vote as many times as you want until the deadline. The winner will be announced Wednesday on vicksburgpost.com and featured in our Friday print edition.
