Specialty naphthenic product manufacturer Ergon Refining is expanding its operations in Vicksburg to include gasoline production. The $400 million investment project will create 20 new jobs.

To support these efforts, the company is investing in facility upgrades that will increase production capacity and include infrastructure connecting to its Vicksburg fuels terminal where gasoline and diesel fuel products are sold. This expansion, which includes the addition of a dual cogeneration power complex, will optimize Ergon’s Vicksburg operations and ensure a reliable local gasoline supply while enhancing the efficiency and longevity of its facilities.

“As exciting as a new business is to the economy of Warren County, perhaps even better news is the expansion of an existing member of our business community,” said Warren County Board of Supervisors President Kelle Barfield. “As Ergon has grown in its industry leadership over the past half century, company management and employees have been committed to growth and quality of life here. We’re excited to see Warren Country grow with Ergon as they expand their operations with this enormous investment.”

“Over the years, we have worked closely with Ergon Refinery to support their growth in Vicksburg, and this significant investment further strengthens the long-standing partnership between our city and the company,” said Vicksburg Mayor George Flaggs Jr. “Ergon is widely recognized for its commitment to employee well-being and community support, making them a valued partner for our region. This project will have a profound positive impact on our city—creating high-paying jobs, strengthening the Port of Vicksburg and positioning us for continued economic development success.”

Mississippi Development Authority is providing assistance for road improvements.

“The ‘Mississippi Momentum’ our state has been experiencing continues well into 2025, with this latest substantial win from Ergon injecting $400 million into the state’s economy and creating 20 good-paying new opportunities for the people of Vicksburg” said Mississippi Development Authority Executive Director Bill Cork. “For more than 70 years, Ergon has been a Mississippi success story, and with a business environment that sparks innovation and encourages companies to grow here, there’s zero reason companies should look elsewhere. Ergon’s latest expansion signifies the strength of our state’s economy and the fact that we truly are a top state for business.”

The company plans to complete its expansion in Vicksburg by 2027.

“Today, there aren’t many places you’d go around the world that have not been impacted in some way by the specialty solutions produced at our Vicksburg refinery,” said Ergon President & CEO Kris Patrick. “I’m incredibly proud of the work our employees do to continue our legacy of quality products and services that make a positive global impact. As we move forward, we’re proud to collaborate with local and state partners, investing in the economic success of the place we call home.”

Ergon was founded in 1954 in Jackson and has since grown into a global organization employing more than 4,200 workers, including 1,200 in Mississippi, and serving customers in more than 100 countries. In 2024, the company celebrated the expansion of its Flowood headquarters, an $85 million investment that will create 200 new jobs.
