Reno S. Harp of Frederick, Maryland, supreme chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, and his wife were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Stein.  

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Mayor R.E. Selby announced plans to move the municipal gas office out of Vicksburg City Hall. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

Services were held for Mrs. Alice Barnett. • Lt. and Mrs. Elmo Branch announced the birth of a daughter. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Dr. Joseph Stone was elected president of the Vicksburg Rotary Club. • Mrs. Aurelia White died. 

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Mr. and Mrs. George Freeman announced the birth of a son, Marion Alfred LaShon. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Fire damaged a house in Openwood Plantation while painters were working inside. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Twins Felix and Phlandis Younger, 62, retired from Anderson-Tully Co. after 43 years on the job. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Services were held for The Rev. Chester A. Ross Sr. • Alaina Rosalie Huskey celebrated her fourth birthday. 

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The MV Mississippi was docked at the Vicksburg City Front for one of four meetings scheduled during the annual high-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River.
