The driver of a car that crashed into a culvert in a single-vehicle accident Wednesday night was hospitalized following the incident.

As of press time Thursday, local officials said the man was believed to have suffered non-life-threatening injuries after his vehicle ran off the road and crashed off the southbound lane in the 4000 block of Highway 61 North.

“At 7:10 p.m. WCFS was dispatched to a single-vehicle MVC (motor vehicle collision) with entrapment,” officials with the Warren County Fire Service said. “Vicksburg Fire (Department), and Warren County Sheriff’s Office worked hand-in-hand to get the patient out of the car and to a nearby hospital. Special shoutout to FM30, who was upside down treating the patient.”

Officials said the extraction tool commonly referred to as the jaws of life was employed to remove the vehicle’s roof.

No additional injuries were reported, nor were any charges reported as filed in connection with the incident. The Mississippi Highway Patrol is working the case.
