St. Aloysius worked deep into the night to secure a couple of district wins.

Clark Hobson drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Flashes an 8-7 victory over Adams County Christian School in the first game of Friday’s baseball doubleheader at Bazinsky Field. They then made much quicker work of the Rebels in game two by winning 16-6 in five innings.

The doubleheader lasted more than six hours, with the first game taking about 4 1/2.

ACCS led 4-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, and that’s when things started getting screwy. Walt Andrews, Sadler Lambiotte and Clark Hobson hit three consecutive singles, with the hits by Andrews and Hobson plating runs that tied the game. Lambiotte was thrown out trying to score on Hobson’s hit, which sent the game to extra innings as a light rain fell.

ACCS scored three runs in the top of the eighth inning, but St. Al answered again. Bradley hit a two-run double and another run scored on an error to tie it at 7.

After neither team scored in the ninth, the Flashes finally won it in the bottom of the 10th. Carson Smith singled with one out, Andrews reached on a misplayed grounder, and Lambiotte was intentionally walked to set up a double play.

Hobson, though, worked his way back from a 1-2 count to draw the walk-off walk as the Flashes won 8-7.

It was Hobson’s second walk of the game, to go along with a single. He had two RBIs. Laken Bradley was 3-for-5 with two RBIs and his brother Keller was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.

Andrews and Smith also had two hits apiece. Andrews drove in two runs and Smith scored two.

In game two, the Flashes (12-7, 2-0 MAIS District 4-5A) came out swinging and scored in every inning they batted en route to the 16-6 run-rule victory.

After ACCS scored twice in the top of the first inning, St. Al struck for eight runs in the bottom half and never looked back. Will Roberson hit a two-run single during the opening rally, and Evan Mallard and Keller Bradley both hit RBI triples.

Mallard finished with four RBIs. Andrews, Smith and Roberson each had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored, and eight of St. Al’s nine starters scored a run. The only one who didn’t, catcher Pierson Smith, had one RBI.

St. Al will host district rival Copiah Academy Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., and then travel to Brookhaven for a doubleheader rematch next Friday beginning at 4 p.m.

Clinton 17, Vicksburg 0
Ethan Dodson went 2-for-3 with a home run, double, and six RBIs as Clinton (14-5) beat Vicksburg High (5-13) on Friday.

Dodson’s three-run home run was part of a 14-run second-inning rally by the Arrows.

Peyton Calvin singled in the second inning to account for Vicksburg’s only hit.

The Gators will play at Columbus on Tuesday, and at Yazoo County on Thursday, April 3. Both varsity games will begin at 7 p.m.

Central Hinds 18, Porter’s Chapel 0
Zack Moak and Jay Shuff combined on a three-inning no-hitter, and Shuff was 2-for-3 with four RBIs as Central Hinds (8-12) completed a sweep of a home-and-home series with Porter’s Chapel Academy (2-16).

Price Foil tripled twice and drove in five runs for Central Hinds, and John Ryan Hall also had three RBIs. Trey Askew reached base three times and scored three runs.

Evan Gordon walked twice for Porter’s Chapel, which will host Franklin Academy Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Briarfield 16, Riverdale 0
Jackson Thornton went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBIs and three runs scored to lead Briarfield Academy (10-5) to an easy win over Riverdale Academy.

Briarfield scored nine runs in the first inning, seven more in the second, and wrapped it up in the third via the mercy rule.

Brock Johnson and Davis Holt combined for seven strikeouts in an abbreviated no-hitter.

Prairie View 19, Tallulah Academy 6
Hayden Little went 4-for-5 with four RBIs, Abram Anthony also drove in four runs, and Prairie View Academy scored in every inning as it run-ruled Tallulah Academy (9-8).

Prairie View led 6-5 after two innings, then scored four runs in the third and held Tallulah scoreless in the third and fourth to pull away. It closed things out with eight runs in the top of the fifth.

J.T. McDaniel and Caleb Grady both homered for Tallulah in the second inning. Charlie Vining also had two hits and two RBIs.

Tallulah will play at Christ Covenant Tuesday at 6 p.m.
