100 YEARS AGO: 1925

Mrs. J.G. Cashman returned after spending the winter in San Diego. • Capt. Dennis Hossley was reported to be improving after being very ill.

90 YEARS AGO: 1935

Gen. Harley B. Ferguson, Col. David McCoach and Maj. L.E. Oliver were in D.C. for the flood control hearing. • Mr. and Mrs. W.C. McNeely of Oak Grove, Louisiana were in Warren County visiting Hazel Brown. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

The Legion of Merit was awarded to Brig. Gen. Max Tyler, president of the Mississippi River Commission. 

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

The Community Concert Association began its annual membership drive. • Phil Gilbert died. 

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

A.L. Weed was named program secretary at the local YMCA. • Services were held for Paul Banks. 

 50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Navy Seaman apprentice Isaac C. Knox graduated from recruit training. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Sgt. Ken Gill of the Vicksburg Police Department was honored by the Jaycees with the Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer Award. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

 The Gold River Casino project for Vicksburg was put on hold indefinitely. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Dorothy Marion Williams Stamm died at the age of 98. • Glen Palmer hoped to restart the Mission 66 Youth Baseball League.  

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

The City of Vicksburg was one step closer to having its own sports complex after Mississippi Senate Bill 2926 was passed.
