Miss Mississippi pickleball, tennis tournaments on deck

Pageant sashes and pickleballs, and tiaras and tennis balls will collide at Halls Ferry Park in early April when the Miss Mississippi Corporation hosts tournaments in both sports.

It’s the second edition of the tournament. The inaugural edition was successful enough to allow for an expansion this time around.

The pickleball tournament, which will be held April 5, is a doubles event for men’s, women’s and mixed teams. The men’s and women’s divisions are new for 2025.

The entry fee is $40 per player for one event, and an extral $20 for a second event.

The tennis tournament is the following weekend, April 11-13. It has also added several new divisions for adults ages 18-55 and over, plus some for high school players. The entry fees are $30 and $40, depending on the division.

The entry fee for each tournament includes food and T-shirts, and the chance to hob-nob with Miss Mississippi contestants.

One Miss Mississippi contestant, Miss Capital City Anna Leah Jolly, will play in the pickleball tournament. Others will be on hand to say hello to players and cheer them on.

“Miss Miss contestants and Miss Mississippi’s Teen contestants are both volunteering for one or the other. A couple of them will be at both. Miss Mississippi will be at both,” tournament director Lisa Boleware said.

The registration deadline for the pickleball tournament is Monday, March 31. To register or for more information, contact Glenn Rhett at 601-218-5829 or email missmspb@gmail.com.
