An 18-wheeler that overturned on Interstate 20 westbound just before Vicksburg continues to slow traffic after an hours-long struggle by emergency personnel to free the trapped driver.
Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace confirmed Warren County Sheriff’s Office deputies have been on the scene of the accident since approximately 5 a.m. on I-20 between Bovina and the nearby weigh station (between the 9 and 10 mile markers, approximately).
Both Vicksburg Fire Department and Warren County Fire Service responded to the overturned vehicle and assisted in freeing the trapped driver, whose condition is currently unknown.
Pace said Mississippi Highway Patrol is working the accident; however, he cautioned that traffic is moving slowly as of 9:30 a.m. as only the left, westbound lane is currently open. The right lane remains closed to traffic as MHP continues work to clear the roadway.
