Warren Central tennis player Ivan Ozherelev won the MHSAA Region 2-6A boys singles championship with a pair of victories in the region tournament Wednesday in Madison.

Ivan Ozherelev won his first boys singles match against Callaway’s Tyler Wells 6-0, 6-0, then rallied to beat Neshoba Central’s Colin Crenshaw 2-6, 7-5, 1-0 in a third-set tiebreaker to win the championship.

Ozherelev clinched a spot in the Class 6A individual tournament April 14 in Oxford. He and the rest of his Warren Central teammates will also play Olive Branch in the Class 6A team playoffs Tuesday, April 1, at 1:30 p.m. at Halls Ferry Park.
