Gloria Dean Jones

Gloria Dean Jones was born December 19, 1952, in Vicksburg, Mississippi to the late Norman Jones and Barbara Cook Jones. Gloria accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was baptized at Mt Zion No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church by the late Rev. James A. Miller.
A 1970 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School, Gloria furthered her studies in nursing at Homer G. Phillips Hospital in St. Louis and McKendree College in Lebanon, Illinois.
After earning a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing, Gloria enlisted into the United States Air Force as an officer. Gloria dedicated her career to serving as a nurse in the armed forces. She honorably served for 20 years and retired as a major in November of 1994.
After her service to her country, Gloria was employed at Parkview Regional Medical Center (currently Merit Health River Region). Gloria retired from the hospital in 2019. Through her service, Gloria embodied the true spirit of nursing- selflessness, dedication, and a deep desire to make a difference.
Gloria was preceded in death by her brother, Willie Jones. She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Christina Jones and Michael Jones, both of Vicksburg; three brothers, Elbert Jones of Covington, Georgia, David Jones and Ernest Jones, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Verma Jones of Vicksburg, Norma Driver of Birmingham, Alabama, and Lisa Jones of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Joshua Jones, Kaleb Jones, Stephan Jones and Michael Jones Jr., all of Vicksburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The funeral will be held Saturday, April 5, at 11 a.m. at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home, 800 Monroe St.
