Vicksburg High School won its fourth straight baseball game, beating Monroe 12-3.

The powerful towboat U.S.S. Colner reached port. 

80 YEARS AGO: 1945

Marine Cpl. James McMaullan died of wounds received in action in the Pacific. • Services were held for Ashburn White, a well-known Vicksburg resident.  

70 YEARS AGO: 1955

The new East Carroll Parish Hospital was dedicated in Lake Providence, Louisiana. • Mr. and Mrs. William H. Anderson announced the birth of a son, Lawrence.  

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mrs. Martha E. Pope died. • Services were held for Walter L. Pierce.  

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Navy seaman recruit John G. Booth, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Booth, graduated from recruit training. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Vicksburg native John H. “Boo” Hughes died in Compton, California. 

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Betty Ewell and Lucille Clark were top winners in the Warren County Homemaker Volunteers annual flower show. 

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

Circuit Judge Frank Vollor asked Warren County for help in setting up a drug court program.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Former Warren County Circuit Clerk Shelly Ashley-Palmertree was ordered to repay $818,251 in restitution for her salary above what was allowed by the state, as well as questionable subcontractor payments.
