Porter’s Chapel Academy started its track and field postseason with a bang.
Freshman Lakelan Pecanty won three events, and PCA was second in the boys team standings at the MAIS District 4-3A junior high meet on Wednesday.
Pecanty won the boys’ long jump with a mark of 18 feet, 9 inches, as well as the 100 meters and the 200 meters.
Blake Barnard added another victory in the 1,600 meters. He was also second in the 3,200 meters and fourth in the 800.
Lane Carraway had two podium finishes, a second in the boys’ 400 meters and a third in the 200.
For PCA’s girls, Kadience Pugh finished second in the 100 meters and third in both the 200 and 400.
The district meet was the last of the season at the junior high level, but Pecanty, Barnard and Carraway will all compete in the District 4-3A high school meet next week. PCA will host that event as well, on Tuesday, April 15, at Vicksburg High School. Events begin at 9:45 a.m.
