Vicksburg’s Zion Knox is The Post’s Athlete of the Week

Zion Knox jumped to the front of the line in The Vicksburg Post’s Athlete of the Week contest.
The Vicksburg High track and field star received 757 of the 1,683 votes cast in an online poll of The Post’s readers to become the latest winner of the weekly award.
St. Aloysius track athlete Samantha Edwards finished second, with 672 votes. Warren Central track sprinter Adria Burrell was third, with 184 votes, and Porter’s Chapel Academy tennis player Henry Slayton was fourth with 99.
Knox, a freshman, won the long jump and triple jump, and tied for third place in the high jump at the MC Jaguar Invite on April 4. Knox had marks of 18 feet, 4 inches in the long jump and 39-6.5 in the triple jump.
Knox is the reigning MHSAA Class 6A state champion in the triple jump, and has won four times in five meets this season. She and the Missy Gators will begin their 2025 postseason run on Monday, April 14, with the Region 2-6A meet at at VHS.
