SUNDAY FUNDAY: Fun Lanes Bowling Alley to open this weekend

For Vicksburg residents who have been missing hitting the lanes after the River City’s lone bowling alley closed in 2024, Sunday will bring relief as Fun Lanes Bowling Alley will officially open at Vicksburg Mall.

Owner Brian Weaver said he is excited to officially open for business after months of preparing the space for the general public.

“We’re very excited,” Weaver said. “And of course we are going to keep it family friendly; no alcohol, no beer. My goal is to keep it a safe environment for kids.”

Fun Lanes will open to the public Sunday at 1 p.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.

Weaver, who also owns and operates Indian Lanes Bowling Alley Clinton, said he thinks the new operation is a perfect fit for the River City.

“Vicksburg really needs something,” he said. “I started coming over here and looking. I’ve always wanted to get into another center. (It’s) something for the kids to do: the arcade and all that kind of stuff…so I decided to do this over here in Vicksburg. It’s been a journey, but we’re getting there.”

Weaver said a by-invitation soft opening will take place Saturday, but the real fun begins with the grand opening Sunday.

“I just want everybody to come and support us and just have a good time,” he said. “The big thing is I just want families to come in and have a good time.”
