By the Numbers: January, February tourism reports

During the Feb. 27 meeting of the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCVB), visitor reports for January 2025 were released and are as follows:

 

  • 29 Riverboats with 1,162 passengers;
  • 20 Car tours with 49 passengers.
  • 1,794 visitors were welcomed at the Visitor Information Center;
  • The top state to visit was Mississippi, with 405 visitors. Texas was second with 125;
  • The number of international visitors was 27;
  • The top country was Canada with five visitors. Puerto Rico was second with four;
  • 883 visitors at the Vicksburg Civil War Museum;
  • 102 visitors at the Southern Heritage Air Museum;
  • 265 visitors at the Old Courthouse Museum;
  • 849 visitors at the Lower Mississippi River Museum;
  • 267 visitors at the Old Depot Museum;
  • 16,388 visitors at the Vicksburg National Military Park; 
  • Numbers for the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum and Catfish Row Museum were not submitted.

During the March 27 meeting of the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau (VCVB), visitor reports for February 2025 were released and are as follows:

  • 3 Bus tours with 70 passengers;
  • 31 Riverboat tours with 1,305 passengers;
  • 35 Car tours with 72 passengers;
  • 2,430 visitors were welcomed at the Visitor Information Center;
  • The top state to visit was Mississippi, with 734 visitors. Louisiana was second with 130;
  • The number of international visitors was 40;
  • The top country was Canada with 10. The United Kingdom was second with six;
  • 871 visitors at the Vicksburg Civil War Museum;
  • 89 visitors at the Southern Heritage Air Museum;
  • 847 visitors at the Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum;
  • 433 visitors at the Old Courthouse Museum;
  • 1,281 visitors at the Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum;
  • 597 visitors at the Old Depot Museum;
  • Numbers for the Vicksburg National Military Park and Catfish Row Museum were not listed.

Comprehensive data recorded for 2024 was also reported during the meeting and is as follows:

  • Total estimated visitors: 2.04 million;
  • Gaming visitors: 1.6 million;
  • Riverboat passengers: 26,151;
  • Riverboat dockings: 129 completed (five canceled due to low water);
  • Group Tours: 632 (431 riverboat and 201 regular);
  • Car tours: 645;

Hotel Data:

  • Estimated overnight visitors: 612, 321;
  • Average occupancy: 53%;
  • Average Daily Rate (ADR): $99.15;
  • Total revenue: $40.4 million;

(gaming and bed and breakfast properties are not included in short-term reports)

  • Vicksburg National Military Park: 395,895;
  • Biedenharn Coca-Cola Museum: 20,997;
  • Catfish Row Museum: 3,860;
  • Jesse Brent Lower Mississippi River Museum: 20,086;
  • Old Court House Museum: 8, 472;
  • Southern Heritage Air Museum: 3, 762;
  • Vicksburg Civil War Museum: 27,901;
  • Warren County Welcome Center: 45,329.
