Bernard A. Mulligan was killed by a train in Port Gibson.

Vicksburg and the nation mourned the death of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Mercer Hawkins died. • Mr. and Mrs. John Miller and daughter , of Jacksonville, Florida, were in Vicksburg visiting relatives.

60 YEARS AGO: 1965

Mrs. Cora Woods died. • Services were held for James Robinson.

50 YEARS AGO: 1975

Dave Hinkle died after a long illness. • Ida Bell Johnson died unexpectedly in her home. 

40 YEARS AGO: 1985

Warren Central’s Sheila Jenkins tossed the shot during the Coca-Cola-Merchants National Bank Relays.

30 YEARS AGO: 1995

Gasoline prices at Vicksburg pumps surged, with an average of 1.13 per gallon of regular unleaded seen at area stores.

20 YEARS AGO: 2005

A total of 14 teenagers were arrested after a fight at Warren Central High School.

10 YEARS AGO: 2015

Crystal’s Hip Hop Crew won first place and the People’s Choice award at the United Way’s fourth annual Dancing with the Vicksburg Stars.
