Baseball Roundup: Warren Central dusts Vicksburg; Tallulah beats PCA

Warren Central continued its preparations for the MHSAA Class 6A baseball playoffs by also continuing its dominance in the rivalry series with Vicksburg High.
Ryan Steed hit a two-run home run, Tristan Jamison was 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs, and Warren Central beat Vicksburg 12-2 on Tuesday in the first half of a home-and-home series to close the regular season. The teams will play again Friday at 7 p.m. at WC.
Warren Central (15-9, 7-0 MHSAA Region 2-6A) has already clinched the region championship and a No. 1 seed in the playoffs. Tuesday’s victory was its 13th in the last 14 games. It was also its 16th in a row against Vicksburg (6-19, 1-6) in a streak that started in 2013.
After a scoreless first inning, Warren Central scored six runs in the top of the second and two more in the third to take control. Lester Martin and Jamison both hit RBI doubles during the burst.
Steed belted his home run in the fifth inning and also hit a sacrifice fly in the second. Caden Cole also had a productive night at the plate by going 2-for-3 with one RBI and two runs scored.
Nathaniel Moore pitched a five-inning complete game and finished with six strikeouts.
Allan Allen had a hit for Vicksburg and drove in a run with a groundout. The Gators got both of their runs in the fifth inning.
Tallulah Academy 12, Porter’s Chapel 2
Tripp Gayle was 3-for-4 with a double and five RBIs, and J.T. McDaniel reached base four times and scored all four times to lead Tallulah Academy (15-10) to a two-game series sweep of Porter’s Chapel Academy (3-21).
Luke Moberley also scored three runs for Tallulah, Denton Ray had two RBIs, and Charlie Vining had a good day at the plate and on the mound.
Vining was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. He also pitched five innings, allowed two runs, and struck out three batters.
For PCA, Evan Gordon and Hunter Simms had two hits apiece and Chad Fuson hit a double.
Prairie View 19, St. Aloysius 4
Bax Young and Mason Tullos both homered, and Landyn Deville was 3-for-5 with four runs scored as Prairie View Academy (22-4) routed St. Aloysius (15-11) in a playoff tune-up for both MAIS district champions.
Tullos hit a two-run homer as part of an eight-run rally in the first inning, and the Spartans scored five more in the second to take a 13-3 lead.
Robert Lee was 2-for-2 and scored two runs for St. Al. Carson Smith doubled and drove in two runs, and Pierson Smith was 2-for-2. Evan Mallard also hit an RBI double.
